Two days in Cape Town started with crappy weather. Table Mountain? what table mountain???

It was also a tight squeeze into the port on a very windy day.

Also a huge disappointment - I was booked on an independant tour to a sa safri reserve and was really looking forward to it. It was also the first independant tour I had booked by myself so felt that in itself, that was an achievement.
Because of the bad weather, we were late arriving, but the tour company were aware of that, and after navigating the very busy port, I found the guide and me and about 10 others were ushered to a bus. There we sat only to discover that the tour had been cancelled, allegedly due to our late arrival. Needless to say we were all surprised as other buses were leaving at the same time. It turned into a bit of a shit fight on the bus, but nothing we could do. Despite no help from the tour company, I eventually got the tour refunded.
Making the most of the day, I wandered along the wharf which was amazing, and did a bit of shopping.

Day 2 started very foggy.
I had a ship's tour hastily booked to go up the mountain.

It went anyway, and although we had no view, it was a lovely, cold and wet experience

With some lovely plants and old buildings right at the top.

And a little bit of a view on the way down.

The tour drove through some other suburbs and as the clouds began to clear I saw the atlantic ocean up close for the first time in many many years.
There were some lovely views.

Including a view of Robben Island where Nelson Mandela spent a long time.

Back to the V & A Waterfront for the afternoon, where the seafood and local wine were amazing

Luckily the clouds cleared and the earlier view:

transformed into this:

Back to the ship for an amazing sail away with the mountain in the backround and another African sunset.
Cape Town - you did not disappoint. 11/10.
Surprisingly would highly recommend. Amazing vibe, multi cultural and just lovely all round.
